Cosmetics is a big industry, so it has a large impact on our environment.  All products use energy to harvest or make them, package and transport them and, one way or another,  they all end up as waste.   The "greenest" cosmetics can be grown in your own garden and processed without using a cookpot. 

Promotion is also an energy user.  The internet, with all the home computers, causes 2% of the greenhouse gas which is the same amount as produced by the aviation industry.
