Electric Vehicles all over the WORLD
Why are we trying to replace the present auto with the equivalent performance for an electric? I think that if we are already encouraging the use of light train, we should be designing something to compliment the train system.
Why don't we build a little vehicle capable only of 30 mph and short range, for transport from the station to a final destination? If a fleet of these vehicles were available, the regular car could be eliminated from city center, and train stations would not have to be so close together. This would make the train trip more enjoyable and efficient with fewer stops. Trains could be hydrogen powered with the need for very few fill up places. The cars would be very cheap to build and could probably use lead acid batteries.
With only little, slow cars in the city, the insurance rates would be low, and if treated as a fleet they could be maintained with canabilized parts. If they were all fitted with GPS and could be linked together - perhaps like shopping carts - and taxis drivers were employed to make sure that vehicles were available at sites as needed, we might find the experience fun.

I'm checking into a pure electric smart car. sold right here in Phoenix.

In fact electric vehicles come in all sizes and countries.
I just bought a electric assist bike that can go 20 mph , requires no license and if it does run low you can pedal it or at least assist. 3 friends have been using it everyday since I got it.

There seems to be a post with a sequal software error.
The big point is the Electric Vehicles are not an error. They are everything and more than have been promised in the past. The key is very good , long lasting batteries. They are light weight and non toxic. Lithium battereis are set to make the world change.
check the www.eaaev.org for the group that has been driving the vehicles and ideas for the past 25 years.
The Electric Auto Association (EAA) was formed in 1967 by Walter Laski in San Jose, California. The EAA is a non-profit educational organization that promotes the advancement and widespread adoption of Electric Vehicles.
Electric vehicles (EVs) are a clean, quiet alternative to conventional automobiles, which are powered by petroleum derivatives that, when burned, emit noxious gases into the environment.
Electric Vehicles not only keep our Earth cleaner, their use preserves the earth's natural resources. EVs are a smart and efficient choice for personal transportation.
The EAA's mission is to act as a public source of information about developments in electric vehicle technology, to encourage experimentation in the building of electric vehicles, and to organize public exhibits and events of electric vehicles to educate the public on the progress and benefits of electric vehicle technology.
