FixingThePlanet.com FixIt List
Planet FixIt List No.1 from FixingThePlanet.com
1. Unplug Your Cell Phone Charger When Not In Use.
2. Pay Your Bills Online, Cancel All Paper Statements.
3. Use Your Own Coffee Cup At Starbucks (and other coffee shops).
4. Cancel Your Telephone Book Delivery…Look Up Numbers Online.
Over 500 million yellow and white page directories are produced annually requiring 19 million trees to be harvested, wasting 1.6 billion pounds of paper, misusing 7.2 million barrels of oil during processing, taking up 268,000 cubic yards of landfill, and squandering 3.2 billion kilowatt hours of electricity. (Source: www.yellowpagesgoesgreen.com ) Visit their site to stop delivery of your directories.
5. Use 100% Recycled Toilet Paper.
6. Eat Vegetarian Once Per Week.
The international meat industry generates roughly 18% of the world's greenhouse-gas emissions—even more than transportation—according to a report from the U.N.'s Food and Agriculture Organization. And according Stanford University professor Paul Erlich, the amount of water used to produce one pound of meat ranges from 2,500 to as much as 6,000 gallons.
7. Recycle…No, Really Do It This Time.
8. Walk To School…Or Work…Or Anywhere.
9. Use Compact Fluorescent Light Bulbs.
10. Drink Tap Water Instead Of Bottled Water.

Re: FixingThePlanet.com FixIt List
Did you get any replies on whether power4homes is legit or not? Seems that with solar panels going for $4oo. plus and inverters at several thousand this is definatly a hoax.
Re: FixingThePlanet.com FixIt List
I recently heard of a web page Power4homes which is suppose to be a manual of how to install solar panels and windmills on your home. Has anyone heard of them
Re: FixingThePlanet.com FixIt List
Power4homes books.did anyone answer on this question of it being on the up and up? i feel that getting batteries for free and building a windgenerator for $50 bucks with parts from hardware store is a bit far fetched. anyone know if this is legit
Re: FixingThePlanet.com FixIt List
I am a banker who would like to start a business with my architect son to retrofit urban and suburban homes with wind turbines that would connect to the grid. Cost is an issue, of course; but efficiency is our primary concern. Any ideas?
Re: FixingThePlanet.com FixIt List
Wow...that's a tall order. I will switch to tap water effective today. I will cancel my telephone book delivery... I get so many that are never used. I will recycle....yes...really this time. Thanks. Granniegardener
