leaks in your home, Windows, Inflector fix

Windows have to be the biggest source of energy lose in a home. The R value of a windown is very low. Many are from R1 to R6 or more if they are new triple pane gas filled. A wall with insulation is R10 to R40 or more for a zero energy home.

New windows are very expensive and make a lot of mess and trash when you remove the old ones.  I have been trying to make mine better ?

I have used Solar screens that block the heat and sun along with UV rays that cause fading of material. They are very low cost $15-20 a window. I have to go outside and remove them in winter becuase I was the Suns heat then.

Just recently I have installed some Inflectors. They are like a screen on the inside. It blocks the heat AND you can flip them over and they gain heat from the sun. A pretty neat idea. Much lower in cost than a new window. They give you a R10 window , maybe even better with the gain in winter on direct sun windows.

It sure seems like a nice solution , with no mess or trashed old window.

Re: leaks in your home, Windows, Inflector fix

These work very good so far. I use my solar screens with them to get a double heat shield. So far my home has stayed in the 70's here in Arizona. Next week goes into the 90's so that will be a good test.

I'll keep checking and measuring the data to see just how good these make my home. I'm workimng for zero energy, even energy plus with my solar.

I like my new inflectors so much I just ordered 2 more. I also use these with my original solar screens for a double savings. They work together well.
