FIREWORKS are big polluters

I heard of a mom that had an illegal firework blow up in here face. She though it was a "dud" -- and she went and looked down the barrel after it was lit and it didn't do anything. It wasn't a "dud" afterall...I do believe she died the next day.
I reluctantly went to see the fireworks over our big lake. I saw soemthing this year that I have never noticed (thanks to your post) -- it was all the smoke and yucky pollution I the air and in the water during and after the show. It made me very sad. What a way to show our Independence -- by polluting our natural resources....When will we ever learn?

I guess I'm one of the few people who doesn't like fireworks. They are loud and make a lot of pollution. With the 4th of July time of year we should think about what we are doing.
Almost all fireworks are still based on gunpower technology. They can be dangerous and pollute our air and water for a few minutes of color and noise. Some of the many cancer causing pollutatants they cause are cadmium, lithium, antimony, rubidium, stonium , lead and potasium nitrate.
Why not use laser light shows with good music like Disney does ? There are always good clean solutions but you have to first recognise the problem then think about what you really want to accomplish. We all need to start thinking about things we used to take for granted.
