What kind of safety features are available for garage doors today?

What about burning it? Is it OK or safe to burn misc scrap wood, like in a bonfire? And a followup question, are ashes good in compost?

I noticed in Southern States there are businesses that process scrap wood by grinding/shredding it, and use that as a fuel source or to manufacture other building material, like MDF, or in flooring or outside applications like playgrounds. But nothing here in the Chicagoland/Great Lakes area.

yea , i don't know why the local authority's don't have recycling bins for scrap wood , after all it can be used for all sorts of things after processing ( and could provide a few jobs ?? ) - suppose there is no money in it at the moment - call me a cynic if you will but money always comes in to it - even green issues - so i guess the best thing to do is see if there are any recyclers in your local directories ?? ( none round here that want to know about small quantities ) - but i suppose chopped up it is at least bio-degradable in land fill - pity , but sadly a fact of life ...........
