Toy Recalls

Out-greened and outsmarted by a six year old

I was sitting in our living room the other day when our six year old son came down the stairs. We had a conversation that went somewhat like this:

me: "Did you turn off the light in your room?"

him: "Nope, I forgot."

me: "Well, please go turn it off."

him: "You can do it. I'm busy, and you're closer."

me: "No. You need to go do it."

Recycle your books - help kids around the world!

Hi!

Every few months I go through all my books. If I plan to read the book again or it has meaning for me - maybe it was a gift from someone I love - I put it back on the shelf. If not, I find someone else who could really use it.

The website AdoptALibrary.org lists libraries, schools, and groups around the world who would be grateful to get our books when we are through with them.

AdoptALibrary.org doesn't ask for or accept ANY donations. They just help you pick places to give your books.

SOS For Fading Ocean Life

I came across this article on the World Watch Institute's Web Page and had to share it (http://www.worldwatch.org/)

WASHINGTON, D.C.— Creating
“national parks of the sea” may be the only effective way to reverse
trends that have left 76 percent of world fish stocks fully- or
over-exploited and marine biodiversity at severe risk, according to the
new report, Oceans in Peril: Protecting Marine Biodiversity, released today by the Worldwatch Institute.

Europe bans bluefin tuna fishing

This article was taken from BBC News. The article was written on September 19th, just 4 days ago. America may not be far behind Europe at the rate the ocean's stock is being depleted!

It's Time For Kids to Get Involved

Did you know, that as of Wednesday, September 19th, The European Commission has banned the fishing of
endangered bluefin tuna in the eastern Atlantic and Mediterranean for
the rest of the year? This is due to overfishing and the fact that tuna are dissapearing.
