Dodge the Draft!

Upgrade your insulation!

Interior paint, insulation & lighting questions

We will be giving our house a facelift, painting the interior, adding recessed lighting and replacing fiberglass insulation in the attic. We'd appreciate recommendations for "green" interior paint that is durable. Also, we will install recessed lighting on the ceilings - any recommendations for energy-efficient light fixtures (other than the "Energy Star" brands)? And, is the denim insulation a fire hazard? If not, what is it treated with to prevent it from being a fire hazard?  Thanks in advance for your responses.

Are Modular Homes Green?

The Fundamentals

Despite more awareness about green building, there is still a lot of confusion about exactly what green building is. For most experts, there are five main characteristics that define it:

Town rebuilds green

On the night of May 4, 2007, an EF-5 tornado, close to 2 miles wide, wiped out 95% of Greensburg, Kansas.

After the cleanup started, the Greensburg City Council approved a resolution that all city building projects will be built to LEED Platinum level standards. This makes Greensburg, Kansas the first city in the United States to do this. Greensburg is being rebuilt as a Green Town.
